The highest and most remote station in the UK
Corrour Halt on the West Highland Line can only be accessed by train or a 25km gravel track from the nearest road. It sits on its own in a stunning location in the middle of Rannoch Moor, the highest station in the UK, and is also famous as the location for the scene on the small wooden bridge in the film Trainspotting. The Station House cafe and restaurant which was completely renovated a couple of years ago is a great place to eat and very friendly. It is becoming a favourite place to cycle to for a well earned coffee and cake, or lunch. The track is very good all the way so provides an easy opportunity to really experience wilderness Scotland - perfectly doable on a gravel bike or any kind of MTB. It is even downhill on the way back so not too taxing after a big lunch. The picture was taken on the ride in on a perfect autumn day
